The Australian Open buzz is heating up—fitting for summer Down Under. As the countdown to the first Slam of the year inches closer to opening day, so too do speculations on who this year’s champions will be.

With the draws officially out, and everyone’s predictions trickling in, it was time to invite one more expert to the party: AI.

Can AI predict AO?

I spent hours with ChatGPT on both the men’s and women’s draw. Here’s a few notable predictions:

  • Defending champion Jannik Sinner will not reach the final. He falls to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals.

Medvedev’s consistency, exceptional return game, and tactical intelligence on hard courts give him the edge over Sinner, despite Sinner’s powerful game. ChatGPT

  • Stefanos Tsitsipas and Felix-Auger Aliassime make the quarterfinals. Tsitsipas will fall to Sinner, and Auger-Aliassime to Alexander Zverev.
  • Qualifiers Nikoloz Basilashvili, Thiago Monteiro, Martin Landaluce and Hady Habib will win their first-round matches.
  • Pablo Carreno Busta knocks out Ben Shelton in the second round.

  • The first upset of the tournament will be Peyton Stearns defeating Emma Navarro in the first round.
  • The second upset goes to Magda Linette, with her second-round win over 14th seed Mirra Andreeva.
