After Fed Cup, Simona Halep withdraws from Stuttgart with hip injury

Simona Halep has withdrawn from this week's Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany, due to a left hip injury sustained in Fed Cup this past weekend.

Halep may have bit off more than she could chew in a brilliant semifinal tie against France, as she spent approximately six hours on court playing both singles and doubles on Sunday. The Romanian injured her hip when she fell down during a point in the first set against Caroline Garcia.

Halep noted in a post on Twitter that her injury is not debilitating and the withdrawal was more precautionary than anything.

Garbine Muguruza has also pulled out of Stuttgart, due to illness.
