On the sixth season of My Tennis Life, Ajla Tomljanovic gave fans a behind-the-scenes look into the biggest moment of her career at the US Open.

The 29-year-old was set to face Serena Williams in the third round under the lights in the Arthur Ashe Stadium night session—and earlier that same day, Tomljanovic opened up about her “overwhelming” emotions in a hotel room dispatch:

“It’s Friday, I’m in my room, and I’m playing tonight at seven… against Serena for the first time in my career,” Tomljanovic tells Tennis Channel cameras with a grin. “I’m so nervous and excited at the same time.

“I’ve never really had so many emotions before a match.”

The rest is history of course. Tomljanovic would go on to enter the tennis history books—and many trivia night answers—as her 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-1 victory would send Serena into apparent retirement.
