It looks like the grass-roots rebellion against American University’s unexpected decision to eliminate the men’s and women’s tennis programs (and men’s golf) is paying off. AU President Benjamin Ladner has announced that the university will delay implementation of the decision by one year, ensuring that all three programs will field teams through the spring season of 2006.
