Bianca Andreescu has delayed her start to the season again, withdrawing from next week's WTA event at Dubai.

The 19-year-old has been sidelined with a knee injury since the WTA Finals.

"I’m not at 100 percent yet and following my team and doctor’s recommendation, I don’t want to take any risk to re-injure my knee," she said in a statement.

Andreescu did indicate that she is approaching a return, having also travelled with the Canadian Fed Cup team to a tie a week ago but deciding not to play. She is still entered at the WTA event at Doha the week following Dubai.

Andreescu is coming off a breakthrough season, having won Indian Wells, Toronto, and the US Open, but also having repeated injury problems.

Andreescu is No. 6 in the rankings. World No.1 Ashleigh Barty has also withdrawn from the event due to an injury.
