Coco Vandeweghe is unsure whether she can play the US Open, having injured her ankle again at New Haven.

The 26-year-old said the injury was "similar" to what she experienced during the first round of Wimbledon.

"I tried to put no stress on it for six weeks. I’ve played three or four days of tennis since Wimbledon," she was quoted as saying by local press. "I'm hoping it's still possible for me to play US Open."

Vandewghe's successful 2017 season—when she reached two Grand Slam semifinals, including the US Open—could have led to her recent injuries, she suggested. She described herself as "insanely fatigued" at the beginning of this season, and has done little at the big events.

Vandeweghe, whose high is No. 10, is No. 24 in the rankings.
