Morning, all.

Roger Federer has wrapped up a straight sets win (I nearly wrote stright sets, but I don't want to lapse into Strine at this stage - don't want to peak too early in the tournament) over Andreas Seppi.

Performance of the day, though, has to be the British student who scored on a 17-fold accumulator: as a nation held its breath, Nalbandian and Tipsarevic came through to seal the deal, but then we learned the winnings were only £391 (worth about $550 these days).

All in all, a relatively peaceful day 1.  The news that Gilles Muller came through 16-14 in the 5th set over Feliciano Lopez may have sent a quiet shudder through Juan Martin Del Potro, due to meet Muller in R32: Del Potro will remember the way Muller carved his way in 5 setters through the US Open draw in 2008.

That's your wrap up - Pete may be along later, and Rosangel should have a Day 2 Crisis Center up before play starts.  I'm off to make morning coffee and hot cocoa for my girls.
