Barcelona Open honors Toni Nadal

On the court that bears his nephew's name, Toni Nadal was honored for his contributions to tennis  in Spain following Rafael Nadal’s opening round win.

The coach guided the 16-time major winner throughout his entire illustrious career, only stepping away this year to focus on the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca.

Nadal is chasing his 11th title in Barcelona after securing his 11th crown in Monte Carlo last week. He hasn't lost a match on clay since Rome last year.

The ten-time French Open champion is maintaining his unbeatable clay-court form, extending his streak of consecutive sets won on the dirt to 40 following a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory over fellow Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

The world No. 1's chances to defend his Barcelona crown look good, especially after the only man to beat him on clay in 2017, Dominic Thiem, lost on Friday.
