Bartoli sings "Happy Birthday" to Halep in Paris

Simona Halep celebrated her 29th birthday on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-0 first-round win over Sara Sorribes Tormo at Roland Garros. It marked her 15th straight win, dating back to when she won Dubai.

Stadium host Marion Bartoli and the small crowd wanted to celebrate with Halep on court.

"The perfect present was that I won today, of course," she told press. "It was really special day playing on Roland Garros on my birthday. So it's going to be pretty unique maybe forever. I cannot celebrate much, because I have to stay in the room, so I will have a bottle of water."

The 2018 Roland Garros champion could never have imagined she'd spend a birthday at the site of her first major, but with COVID-19 having other plans in 2020, organizers pushed the tournament back into October.

Still, she might have been more excited about her niece's birthday celebration efforts, complete with a cake.

Halep has won titles in Prague and Rome since the tours returned and as the No. 1 seed she is a huge favorite in Paris.
