Barty trades in racquets for golf clubs in Queensland

World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty took in a round of golf at Pelican Waters Golf Club in Wednesday’s Queensland Open Pro-Am.

Last September, the Queensland native was crowned the Brookwater Golf Club women’s champion, having qualified as a top seed.

“She’s got all the tools if she wants to pursue it. If she put her mind to it, I’m sure she could,” men’s club champion Louis Dobbelaar said following Barty’s victory.

Barty—who made a winning return to the tour by claiming the Yarra Valley Classic in February after a long COVID-induced absence—pulled out of Doha, citing a left-leg injury.
