Belinda Bencic makes it three in a row with Dubai title

The Swiss player has been on a tear during her comeback from inju

Former Top-10 player Belinda Bencic’s impressive comeback continues to inspire as the Swiss player claimed her fourth title since left wrist surgery in April put her outside the Top 100. The former junior No. 1 beat another player on a comeback, Ajla Tomljanovic, after a groin injury forced the Australian to retire after dropping the opening set, 6-4.

Bencic’s comeback has been astounding so far, picking up WTA 125K titles in Taipei and Hua Hin before overcoming a stacked field at the Dubai ITF event to extend her winning streak to 15 matches. The 20-year-old also beat former French Open finalist Sara Errani in the semifinals in straight sets.

Bencic solidified herself as a top threat by winning the Rogers Cup title in 2015 at just 18. She rose to No. 7 in 2016, and is now back up to No. 74. Her 2018 is looking much more promising for her than it did just three months ago.
