Ben Shelton changes representation to WME after launching pro career with Team8

The move comes two months after Coco Gauff left the firm co-founded by Federer to start her own venture.

As Ben Shelton approaches a Top 10 debut, the left-hander is doing so with new representation.

This week, it was announced by William Morris Endeavor (WME) that Shelton has joined their roster. The talent agency's tennis client list includes Serena Williams, Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe.

“Welcome brothaaaa,” commented Tiafoe on the Instagram collab between WME and Shelton showcasing the new arrangement.

The Atlanta native previously signed with Team8 in 2022, the year he turned professional following an NCAA singles title run at the University of Florida under the guidance of his father Bryan. Shelton has since reached a pair of major semifinals with his dad leading the charge, including this year’s Australian Open, and is coming off a fourth-round showing at Roland Garros that brought him back to his previous career-high ranking of No. 12.

In April, Coco Gauff thanked Team8 in a post on her social media that revealed she was departing the management firm co-founded by Roger Federer and his agent Tony Godsick in favor of starting Coco Gauff Enterprises. The venture, “powered” by WME through its “vision and resources”, was inspired by the world No. 2’s desire to “take greater ownership of my career.”

In her first major of this new business era, Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka for the second time from a set down in a Grand Slam final to triumph in Paris.

Shelton is seeded No. 3 this week at the BOSS Open in Stuttgart. The 22-year-old meets eighth seed Jiri Lehecka in Friday’s quarterfinals after beginning his campaign with a 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory over Pierre-Hugues Herbert Wednesday.
