Bencic preps for 2020 season using ice skates

It looks like Belinda Bencic is ready to build off her 2019 season in very unique fashion. The world No. 8 spiced up her interval training by switching out her tennis shoes for ice skates.

The Swiss started off her 2019 season strong by defeating four Top 10 players to capture the Premier 5 event in Dubai. She went on to reach the semifinals of the US Open, falling to eventual champion Bianca Andreescu.

She also picked up some hockey sticks during her training session at the Hockey Development Centre with her team and fitness coach Martin Hromkovic.

Bencic finished strong by capturing the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. In Melbourne in 2019, the 22-year-old fell to eventual finalist Petra Kvitova, but Bencic's ice skating training says she will be looking to do a lot more in 2020.
