Blogging Advisory
Well, everyone, it's winter school break and vacation time, so I'm off all of next week. We (Lisa, Luke and I) usually go to a Central American nation during February, but this time we'll be a little closer to home, at Vieques and Culbera. I understand the fly-fishing for tarpon and bonefish is good on the flats around Vieques; I fished my brains out for many, many years, but less in the last few. I'm looking forward to rekindling the love.
I'll be traveling light, now that I have a Kindle, loaded for bear with 12 books. I've read enough with it now to say that I have no problem whatsoever with the device; the thing is, a really good book gets you so absorbed that the last thing you're thinking about is the "feel" of the paper or the image on the cover. In fact, it's physically easier to read from a Kindle; my only complaint is that I have to click the "next page" button a little more often than I'd like. A larger screen or more font/format options than those that exist would be welcome, although the best solution would be some kind of touch-scroll function. But let's remember, turning the pages and manipulating an old-fashioned paperback (especially a thick one) was annoying, too.
I wrote a post for ESPN on Safin's sudden decision to lace them up again. And feel free to discuss today's matches right here. I'll be around and posting over the weekend; we don't leave until Monday.
