Capriati Update

Fellow Press Pariah Matt Cronin e-mailed to share some intel that he posted the other day at his very plugged-in website Tennisreporters.net (you have to subscribe to get the really juicy stuff), regarding Jennifer Capriati’s whereabouts. The skinny:

I don’t know about you, but I get the feeling that Capriati is doing a slow fade here; I’m beginning to wonder if she’ll ever loom as a force in the game again. I say that because despite her deep talent as a ball striker, she’s never been enamored of training—even at the best of times. And as you get closer to 30, you need to amp up rather than ramp down your fitness regimen and general discipline. Throw in the X-factor—that Jen knows how to have a good time and doesn’t feel a need to apologize for it—and the prognosis isn’t great for Capriati fans.
