Clijsters to begin comeback in Monterrey

Kim Clijsters has announced when she plans to begin her scheduled comeback, having had to delay her return to tour with a knee injury.

In a statement from her camp, Clijsters was described as having experienced a "severe tear" in the MCL of her right knee, but did not require surgery. She has competeled her rehab, and is now back on the courts.

"I am really pleased with my progress and it’s been great to get back on the court and play tennis again," said Clijsters.

The former No.1 and three-time Grand Slam champion plans to play Monterrey, Indian Wells, and Charleston, but could also add one more event before that.

The 36-year-old, who retired in 2012 and has three children, announced a surprise comeback a few months ago. She has already returned once from retirement, winning three Grand Slams when she came back in 2009 from having her first child.

Clijsters has entered each of the events with wildcards.
