Del Potro amped to play in front of his fans in Miami

KEY BISCAYNE— Juan Martin del Potro settles into Miami as the hottest player in the draw. On Sunday, he won Indian Wells—the biggest win of his career in the 2009 US Open—over world No. 1 Roger Federer.

"To me, beating Roger in another final, having a positive record against him in finals, is so good," Del Potro said. "I'm excited to keep enjoying these days here in Miami with all my people."

While he's understandably mentally and physically tired from playing four tournaments in a row, he's excited for the many, many Argentinian fans that flock to Crandon Park to cheer him on.

"I like to see Argentinian fans around the courts, Latino-American people, also," Del Potro said.

The 29-year-old loves interacting with his fans, and they love him back, fiercely.

"I spend a lot of time with the fans during my practice sessions, and then off court I meet them every time," he said. "And I also walk around the streets every day. I like to go to the supermarket and I meet fans there too. Miami has a big Argentinian, how you say, society, living here, so I meet them everywhere."

On Friday, Del Potro plays the same first opponent he beat last year, Robin Haase. The world No. 6 hasn't gone beyond the fourth round in Miami since 2009 when he made the semifinals.
