Denis Shapovalov trialling Mikhail Youzhny as coach
The young Canadian is 4-11 since the Miami Open in March.
Denis Shapovalov appears to have brought on Mikhail Youzhny as his coach on a trial basis.
The pair are both at the ATP event at Winston-Salem this week, where Shapovalov is competing.
The young Canadian has been through a few coaches in the previous year, and is 4-11 since Miami—three of those defeats were to Jan-Lennard Struff.
His ranking has dropped to No. 38 from a career-high of No. 20 following Miami.
Youzhny is a former top 8 player from Russia who retired in 2018. He has not previously worked as a tour coach.
Shapovalov is a wildcard and the tournament's second seed.
