Dimitrov comes to Edmund's rescue in Brisbane
The Brit fell to the ground in pain before the top seed leaped in
Sportsmanship was on display—front and center—in Brisbane on Friday. Top seed Grigor Dimitrov showed off the nice side of the sport by sprinting and, literally, leaping to the aid of Kyle Edmund.
The Brit collapsed in pain at 4-4 in the third set of their quarterfinal match, clutching his ankle. Dimitrov went into superhero mode and helped Edmund back to his chair. At first, the injury seemed serious, but Edmund finished the match, losing, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-4.
After match, the Bulgarian said, "At the end of the day, it's health above all. It's an unfortunate thing what happened...I know that feeling, so I hope he gets better."
Dimitrov will face Nick Kyrgios in the semifinals. Edmund told press the injury isn't serious and he's still scheduled to play the Australian Open as planned.
