Karen Khachanov celebrated his 25th birthday with a 6-1, 7-6 (3) win over Richard Gasquet in the quarterfinal of the Lyon Open on Friday.

The French fans, who spent most of the match cheering on Gasquet, made amends with the Russian victor by singing "Happy Birthday" to him during his on-court interview.

For a spot in the final, Khachanov will play either lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech and Cameron Norrie. He is 1-1 against Norie in their head-to-head series, and has yet to play Rinderknech.

A four-time ATP tour-level champion, Khachavov is looking for his first title of the season.
