Federer, Serena clash in a GOAT vs GOAT showdown

The 2019 season started with a bang in Perth on New Years Day, with Roger Federer and Serena Williams facing off for the very first time, in the Hopman Cup mixed-doubles match between the USA and Switzerland.

Both Federer and Serena had won their singles matches earlier in the night, against Frances Tiafoe and Belinda Bencic, so the tie came down to the highly anticipated doubles rubber.

In the end, the Swiss team came out on top, 4-2, 4-3 (3), playing under the Fast4 format.

#Benderer, as they call themselves, are now 2-0, with their last round-robin match to be played against Greece on Thursday.

Federer's year, it's safe to say, is off to a very good start.

The Swiss duo are the defending champions.
