Federer surprises lucky Wimbledon ball boy
The seven-time champion is having a stress-free ride as he reache
Roger Federer is back to his peak form, and what better venue to showcase his dominance than Wimbledon?
The 35-year-old advanced to the semifinals with a straight-set win over Milos Raonic, and he has yet to drop a set this fortnight.
It was a rematch of their semifinal encounter a year ago, won by Raonic in five sets. That encounter happened to be Federer’s last match of 2016 as he shut down his season to recover from injury. That was apparently the right move as he dominated the hard-court season in the early part of 2017, which included winning Grand Slam No. 18 at the Australian Open.
Federer skipped the clay-court season and had a hiccup in his grass-court debut in Stuttgart, dropping his opening match. He recovered in Halle to win the title, his record ninth crown, without dropping a set.
The Swiss has looked relaxed in London so far, even taking the time to have a little off-court fun by surprising the ball boy who picked up his 10,000 ace ball.
Federer next faces Tomas Berdych in the semifinals. If he gets through that, there’s no need for you to adjust your TV set: It’s just Roger being Roger.
