Golovin shares flexible throwback with Sharapova

It's been a nostalgic time as the tour shutdown extends into its third month, and Tatiana Golovin provided Tuesday's fill with an old photo with Maria Sharapova.

The two Russian-born athletes were training at the IMG Academy in Florida together as youngsters. Anyone else wondering if they can still do the splits?

They would play each other five times during their pro careers with Sharapova winning all of the bouts.

Golovin represented France during her injury-shortened career, reaching as high as No. 12. She was forced into early retirement in 2008 due to a back injury.

But the 32-year-old began a comeback just last year, making two appearances at the ITF level.

Meanwhile Sharapova ended her career in February, just ahead of the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.
