A swarm of bees became all the buzz on Akron Tennis Stadium, taking up residence at the umpire’s chair and causing a lengthy delay that required reinforcements.

The battle for who would become Queen Bee in Guadalajara got a little ridiculous on Monday when a slew of yellow-jacketed stingers took up residence on Akron Tennis Stadium.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was set to take the court against Bernarda Pera when the match was delayed to address the swarm, which had concentrated atop the umpire’s chair.

The situation ultimately required reinforcements, as documented by former WTA pro and current commentator Melanie South:

Once the bees were removed, Kvitova proved equally stinging as she secured a straight-set victory over the rising American star—later taking the delay in stride on Twitter.

Here’s hoping the next bee to take over Guadalajara arrives on a crystal horse and sings “Alien Superstar.”
