Holger Rune didn’t have to play his Round of 16 at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters but the Danish teen nonetheless got his steps in with a little help from Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt.
Rune and Bolt linked up at a Replay Jeans event on Thursday after the No. 6 seed advanced into his second Masters 1000 quarterfinal via walkover against Matteo Berrettini.
“How cool is this,” tweeted Rune, who made his Top 10 debut last fall after winning the Rolex Paris Masters over Novak Djokovic. “An honor to meet you.”
An eight-time Olympic gold medalist, Bolt enjoyed a tennis-filled day in Monte Carlo, watching a thrilling clash between Jannik Sinner and Hubert Hurkacz, making a brief cameo during the three-setter when he speedily caught a stray ball from the former Miami Open champion.
