Hot Shot: Nadal hits winner with flick of his wrist in Paris
Another day, another painless win for Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros—this time complete with a forehand flick hot shot. The 11-time champion swept aside 29-year-old qualifier Yannick Maden, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
He lost just one more game than in his first-round victory over qualifier Yannick Hanfmann on Monday.
"There is always things to improve. No, that's part of the day of work," the world No. 2. "But for the moment have been enough to be in the third round. Two good matches. Three sets. Now I have a very tough opponent in front, a player who plays very well against top players, too."
Nadal takes on No. 27 seed David Goffin, who has actually lost the exact same number games as him. A very in-form Goffin beat Ricardas Berankis, 6-0, 6-2, 6-2 and then ousted Miomir Kecmanovic, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3.
Nadal leads their career head-t0-head record 3-1.
