Johnson outduels Thiem in Tokyo hot-shot battle
The American scored the biggest win of his career on Tuesday.
In Tokyo, a mustachioed Steve Johnson notched his career-best win on Tuesday with a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 comeback over world No. 7 Dominic Thiem.
Along the way, the American hit a drop shot inches off the ground that, after floating over the net, took a hard turn and spun off the court.
Johnson wasn't the only one to make the highlight reel, though. There was also an impressive backhand volley from Thiem.
The win is Johnson's third over a Top-10 player. Perhaps just as notable is Johnson's new look.
He will next face Alexandr Dolgopolov, who is no stranger to drop shots himself.
