Keys and Stephens bring WTA tennis to two ATP stops

Pals and fellow Americans Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys took their rivalry to two ATP stops this weekend, playing exhibitions in Newport and then in Atlanta.

In a rematch of their US Open final and French Open semifinal (which Stephens won), the two faced off on grass for the first time by playing at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport.

Stephens and Keys brought women’s tennis back to the historic event for the first time in over 20 years.

Keys would score a 6-4, 6-3 win over the reigning US Open champion. The Fed Cup teammates also took some time to show off just how well they really know each other.

A few days later, Stephens and Keys took their rivalry down south to Atlanta ahead of the ATP 250 event.

They visited with fans in Atlanta on Stadium Court prior to their singles match.

Unfortunately, just minutes in, Georgia rains arrived and shortened their evening.

Despite the weather fail, Stephens and Keys still thrilled all their Atlanta fans and signed plenty of autographs along the way.

Next week it will be back to work with Stephens kicking off her US hard court season in Washington D.C. while Keys will look to defend her title in San Jose.

Strokes of Genius is a world-class documentary capturing the historic 13-year rivalry between tennis icons Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It is timed for release as the anticipation crests with Roger as returning champion, 10 years after their famed 2008 Wimbledon championship – an epic match so close and so reflective of their competitive balance that, in the end, the true winner was the sport itself.
