Legends apparel hits the courts with crossover appeal

The premium men’s performance brand, backed by professional athletes and entertainers, looks to blur the lines between sports, fitness and fashion.

Direct-to-consumer activewear is booming. Athletes and fitness enthusiasts are increasingly being drawn to apparel that not only suits their performance needs, but seconds as fashionable attire for more casual endeavors. Even a conventional sport like tennis has seen more participants opting for non-traditional, athleisure labels that look the part on the court, in the gym and all parts in between.

Legends is a premium men’s performance brand aiming to tap this vein. Originally founded in 2019, the LA-based label is backed by notable investors such as NBA Hall of Famer Steve Nash, NFL quarterback Baker Mayfield and musician Quavo. It features a lineup of stylish shirts, shorts, hoodies and joggers that cater to an active lifestyle. Here are a couple of pieces that will be staples in any workout wardrobe.

The Enzo Tee ($50) is made with 4-way stretch, antimicrobial and moisture-wicking material, to stay dry, cool and comfortable. The top has a snug, athletic fit with a scalloped bottom. Shown in Nightshadow Heather, it also comes in six other colors.

The split-curve hem and 4-way stretch fabric give the Luka Short ($65) the freedom of movement to track down the toughest shots. It also features laser-cut ventilation for enhanced breathability and antimicrobial technology. For players requiring added durability, the Luka HD Short ($65) is made with a diamond rip-stop fabric that can handle the most demanding training sessions.
