Lucas Pouille will not play for the rest of the season because of an injury to his right elbow, which has been affecting him for a couple of months.

The 25-year-old Frenchman had been scheduled to play at home for the Paris Masters and also help lead France in the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid.

On Twitter, Pouille announced that doctors advised him not to compete further this season. His highlight this year was reaching the Australian Open semifinals, and, in off-court milestones, he got married in September.

The former world No. 10 plans on "bouncing back stronger" next season. Currently ranked No.19, he will likely drop to No. 20 in the next couple of weeks, but should not fall much further.
