Make it two clay-court titles for Matteo Berrettini in 2024.

A day after ousting top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in Gstaad, Berrettini backed up the win Sunday for his second Swiss Open crown. The sixth seed sailed past qualifier, Quentin Halys, 6-3, 6-1, in just under an hour on court.

“It seems like it was yesterday I won my first title here six years ago. I’m just so glad that I can keep playing, keep enjoying,” Berrettini told ATP Media afterwards. “I think I found the energy of six years ago during this week. This place is special for me. I’m just so happy.”

Berrettini saved all three break points he faced at 2-3, overpowering his French opponent at the line throughout the contest by clinching 26 of 29 points when he made his first serve. Having navigated a rain delay at the tail end of the first set, the former Wimbledon finalist later wrapped up the victory when Halys framed a forehand return.

“During the whole week, the conditions were really different. it was windy, then a little bit more wet,” said Berrettini. “Then today, it was really cold and drizzling. It took me a little bit. When we came back on court, I found the perfect focus.”

The former world No. 6 will climb back to the Top 50 after celebrating his ninth ATP title. Berrettini previously won April’s 250 in Marrakech and improved to 16-5 on the season in tour-level contests.

Halys was contesting his maiden ATP final. His big effort this week will propel the 27-year-old back to No. 125 in Monday's rankings.
