Monfils stunned by hot shot-hitting Bhambri in D.C.

The world No. 200 stunned the defending champion, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.

Ranked No. 200, India's Yuki Bhambri came seemingly out of nowhere to stun Washington defending champion Gael Monfils in D.C. on Wednesday. The qualifier played with nothing to lose for the 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 upset.

Bhambri is 3-1 this year on the ATP World Tour, having reached the second round in Chennai, but then sticking mainly to ITF Pro Circuit and ATP Challenger events.

It's safe to say his performance on Wednesday was the best of his career:

The 25-year-old Bhambri has been on tour since 2008, and reached a career-high ranking of No. 88 in 2015. He had only won five ATP-level main-draw matches before this week.
