Before the second half of the Sunshine Swing began in earnest, Puerto Rican star Monica Puig and former Top 20 player Jennifer Brady teamed up to celebrate Women’s History Month in full Miami style.

The pair were featured as panelists at a pre-tournament mixer organized by Break The Love, a next-gen sports platform, in partnership with Lillet, a classic wine-based apéritif from Bordeaux.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with Lillet to celebrate Women’s History Month to increase women playing and watching sports,” said Break the Love founder Trisha Goyal.

“Our afternoon will be a great opportunity to hear from a panel of female athletes about their experiences to kick off a year long lineup of empowering our community of women to access sport in partnership with Lillet.”

Hosted at the Esme Miami Beach hotel—not far from iconic Ocean Drive—the afternoon’s agenda included learning how to make a “Lillet Spritz”, shopping all things Wilson at an on-site pop-up shop, and of course, listening to a powerful panel discussion featuring Puig and Brady.

“Incredible to be surrounded by so many women sharing my story while on tour and beyond right before the Miami Open,” Puig shared on social media.

“Such a special way to help grow interest in sports amongst women with Break The Love, a female-founded platform democratizing access to sport [and] recreation, and Lillet, a brand committed to helping women connect with a classic Lillet Spritz.”

Guests were also treated to an immersive virtual reality tennis experience, courtesy of Sense Arena. The brand’s VR headset and haptic racquet have been a part of Brady’s practice routine since its tennis-training program launched last year, as the American continues her recovery from a left foot injury.

“Had a great time spending an afternoon with an incredible group of women sharing my story of becoming a professional athlete, with insight into my active mental training with Sense Arena,” Brady wrote.

The event is part of Break The Love’s year-long series of Tennis Rallies and pro panels with Lillet, which aim to highlight the importance of women in sports and toast the rise of popularity in tennis.

Previous panels have featured tennis legend Rosie Casals, WTA President Micky Lawler, and player Shelby Rogers, while the likes of Taylor Townsend, Vania King and coach Wim Fissette have also collaborated with the platform.
