Muguruza, Kvitova and more enjoy Stuttgart party
Stuttgart is one of the player’s favorite tournaments on the WTA tour for good reason. Some of the stars of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix enjoyed a night at the player’s party on Monday ahead of the action-packed tournament.
The players took their hair and makeup efforts seriously, employing a team to help them get red-carpet ready.
Three-time Stuttgart champion Maria Sharapova hit the red carpet in style but fell short the following day in a dramatic, high-quality contest with sixth-seed Caroline Garcia.
The Russian star played one of her best matches of 2018, but lost her way after winning the first set. The draw is packed full of early-round blockbuster showdowns, including Angelique Kerber taking on Petra Kvitova.
Despite having lost to Kvitova in lopsided fashion, 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday in Fed Cup, Kerber took down the Czech in straight sets on Wednesday, 6-3, 6-2.
Kvitova, took a spin on the red carpet with fellow Czech Barbora Strycova. The duo helped the Czech Republic advance to the Fed Cup final with a win over Germany last weekend.
Garbine Muguruza, the No. 2 seed, broke up the black and white trend of the night by dressing up in a bright floral dress.
Muguruza will open against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova after the Russia outlasted Madison Keys in a three-set epic.
