Naomi Osaka teams up with TAG Heuer to serve up limited-edition watch
The four-time Grand Slam winner's exclusive Aquaracer is limited to just 250 pieces.
Naomi Osaka was always drawn to TAG Heuer because of their statement timepieces and memorable campaigns with former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova. In 2021 she jumped at the opportunity to join the Swiss luxury brand and ever since the two worked closely on creating something special. Now at just 23-years-old, Osaka can say she has her own limited-edition watch with the timeless brand.
She was also a paramount player in the design process for the limited-edition Aquaracer.
“Designing a watch is different to designing clothes because you have a much smaller canvas to work with,” Osaka said in an interview with Complex. “Therefore, you need to be more intricate, precise, and thoughtful. Green is just a color that I like to wear and it flashes and clashes; and it’s a nod to my day job.”
The first thing customers will notice is the bold greens. It's meant to reflect Osaka's love for her sport and resemble a freshly popped can of tennis balls. Two shades of the verdant tone can be seen, a "distinctive" pale shade covers the face while the band is a darker green. Two straps come with the watch an both are environmentally friendly and made with recycled fishing nets.
The watch is priced at $3,950.00 and only 250 pieces are available with a portion being sold online and in stores throughout the United States, Japan and Australia.
The sporty watch is also adorned with her official logo: a bear holding a flower, resembling strength and femininity.
The world No. 14 is 3-0 to start the season, but withdrew from her semifinal match at the warm-up event in Melbourne last week due to injury.
"Sad to withdraw due to injury from my match today, my body got a shock from playing back to back intense matches after the break I took," she wrote on Twitter. She will begin her title defense on Sunday at the Australian Open by facing Colombia's Camila Osorio.
