Natural comedian Andreea Prisacariu nails rookie speech at BJK Cup qualifier

The 22-year-old Romanian won over everybody with her wit, timing and spirit.

I didn’t prepare anything. I’m just going with the flow.

When one utters these bold words before making a speech, it can often be a recipe for disaster. In Andreea Prisacariu’s case, it spelled utter brilliance.

Over the weekend, the 22-year-old stood out when it was her turn to deliver a “rookie speech” at Romania’s BJK Cup qualifier in Radom, Poland.

“Tomorrow we are going to start something, I don’t know, nice—I hope,” Prisacariu said before getting rolling.

“I also want to thank my team for being here with me. Actually, I’m with them but it’s OK,” came a punchline that drew universal laughter inside the arena.

She then turned to the host nation.

“Hello Poland, see you tomorrow. Are you ready for us? Of course,” Prisacariu remarked with a smile.

Teammate Andreea Mitu was unable to hold back tears of laughter during the short address. Irina-Cameila Begu, Mihaela Buzarnescu and captain Horia Tecau chuckled throughout as well.

Speaking about their whereabouts, the natural comedian had this to say. “I like this town. It’s quite peaceful. I’m thinking to move here when I’ll be 60. It’s quite nice.

“We need peace in our lives, so I’m gonna go for that.”

Ranked No. 200 coming in, Prisacariu would fall, 6-0, 6-0, to world No. 1 Iga Swiatek. But as she advised going into the contest, “We will give you a nice show, adventure. However you see it.

“My girls are laughing here because they like me so much.”
