New York Jets face off in Ultimate NYC Sports Challenge
Demario Davis and Matt Forte took the Ultimate NYC Sports C
The Ultimate NYC Sports Challenge at the US Open took place on Tuesday, starring New York Jets linebacker Demario Davis and Jets running back Matt Forte. Davis challenged Forte to a set of tennis, and his teammate accepted the offer.
The event was live streamed on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The USTA Foundation recruited a crew of NJTL children to join the cheer section, while retired doubles champion Eric Butorac acted as umpire and coach of Forte. Butorac predicted his charge would win 6-2. In the end, Forte defeated Davis soundly, 6-0.
He also gave Davis a new nickname, "Demari-o."
Despite the one-sided outcome, Davis took the challenge seriously by training beforehand:
The loser agreed to donate $10,000 to the winner's charity.
