Not Quite Out of Africa
Great news from Rex Miller, for those of you who have been following the amazing story of Patrick Olobo (check my post of July 22, "A Straightforward Plea for Help"), the Ugandan aspiring tennis pro. Patrick grew up under horrific circumstances in war-torn Uganda, but still resolved to become a tennis pro. Rex met him on a recent trip to Africa, and decided to try to get him to the U.S., where Rex feels pretty confident that Patrick could earn a junior college tennis scholarship or better.
Here’s Rex’s recent note to me:
I wanted to share some good news with you. Patrick has his first sponsor. My friend Larry Linett has committed $1,000 and two weeks hosting in Wilmington.
Thanks for making a difference.
Step by step.
Well, I’m not the one making a difference—Rex and, now, Larry are. If you are moved to help after reading Patrick’s story, write to me, or send a note directly to Rex.
