Osaka celebrates 22nd birthday

Just like that, Naomi Osaka turned 22 on Wednesday. Though not normally a milestone birthday for most (unless you're Taylor Swift), the year does hold significance for the Japanese.

Osaka had until 22 to choose between her dual citizenship of the United States or Japan. She has never hesitated in sticking with her home country.

She's currently in Japan, where she got to be a part of her nation's Rugby World Cup win over Scotland on Sunday.

And was in the crowd, alongside Kei Nishikori, for the Toronto Raptors game against the Houston Rockets in Saitama last Thursday.

Osaka was born in Osaka, Japan, but moved to the United States when she was just three. After winning the crown in Beijing, she confirmed that she will play for Japan at the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year. It will mark the world No. 3's first appearance at the Olympics.
