Vintage, so adorable! đź‘—

No, but really: Destanee Aiava is taking tennis fans on a fashion journey to kick off her 2025 Australian Open campaign, showing off iconic 2010s looks made famous by Ana Ivanovic and Maria Sharapova in her first two qualifying matches.

In her first-round win over No. 10 seed Ana Bogdan, the world No. 195 debuted a classic pink Nike kit Sharapova wore during the 2012 US Open while switching to Adidas for 2010 Ivanovic dress to defeat Panna Udvardy—both in straight sets.

In an exclusive interview with Bounces, the 24-year-old Aussie confessed to Ben Rothenberg, “I’ve found them on eBay—for double the price that they were originally for…But yeah, I just like looking—on Depop, Facebook Marketplace, eBay—to find the old, vintage outfits that I loved when I was little.

“I just like wearing my own things, and it’s nice not to see everyone wearing what I’m wearing. Even if it is twenty years old.”

Aiava is clearly making the most of the time spent without an apparel sponsor, teasing more throwback kits ahead of her final round qualifying match against No. 23 seed Eva Lys.

“I think I’ve got, like, six now,” she told Rothenberg. “I was actually looking before my match for another couple; just in case I did make main draw, I’d have a new one to wear. Hopefully I can get through.”
