Pennetta and Fognini welcome their first child
The Italians are now proud parents of a baby boy.
Flavia Pennetta and Fabio Fognini welcomed their first child on Friday.
The tennis power couple, who married last June in Ostuni, Italy, have named their baby boy, Federico.
The congratulations poured in for the happy couple.
Pennetta retired in 2015 after winning the US Open. World No. 29-ranked Fognini has been playing well in recent weeks, and stayed on tour as his wife neared her due date. While he competed in Rome, the impending milestone was on his mind and hers.
Yet Fognini managed to take care of his work on court. He even scored his first career-win over a world No. 1 on Tuesday when he beat Andy Murray to reach the fourth round in Rome. Here's the note he left for Pennetta after the victory:
Fognini would fall to Alexander Zverev on Thursday. It was for the best, as he had more important things to attend to.
