UTR Pro Match Series Day1 Wrap

Live tennis is back! Last week saw the Tennis Point Exhibition Series start in Germany, but this weekend UTR has organized a tournament for four men's players in West Palm Beach. The men's UTR Pro Match Series features Reilly Opelka, Hubert Hurkacz, Tommy Paul and Miomir Kecmanovic in round-robin matches with sets to four.

No one was really sure what the event would look like with many new safety precautions in place, so here's a look behind the scenes on Day 1.

Kecmanovic, and all attendees (staff, umpires and players) had their temperatures taken when they pulled up to the private court.

The court itself was carefully scrubbed and disinfected, and there was no physical interaction between the players. The four men had separate tents, hand sanitizer on their benches, and exchanged racquet taps instead of handshakes.

What about contact with the balls? Each player only picked up balls that were marked red or black specifically for their hands.

Though there were no crowds, the match was streamed live on Tennis Channel and Hurkacz couldn't resist waving to the non-existent fans as is normal post-match tradition.
