An epidemic has struck the tours this offseason. For some reason, the players are obsessed with vacationing in the Maldives. Why? We don’t exactly know, but the sheer number of players who chose the tropical locale is shocking.
It’s possible that Maldives tourism industry targets professional tennis players due to their international appeal. It’s also possible certain players are getting their stays comped in exchange for some social media advertising. Or they are just recommending the spot to each other.
The smallest Asian country is made up of 26 atolls (ring shaped coral reefs) covering about 115 square miles with around 516,00 inhabitants.
Perhaps Serena started this trend in November when she and her family visited the island for some much needed rest and relaxation. It wouldn’t be the first trend she has started.
