Players pay tribute to postponed Met Gala

The 2020 Met Gala would have taken place on Monday, but due to COVID-19, the event was postponed. This year's theme for the 150th anniversary celebration was going to be About Time: Fashion and Duration.

A few lucky players who have attended the extravagant gala posted throwbacks to better years when they walked the red carpet and enjoyed brushing elbows with celebrities.

Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian were in New York last year instead of in Europe for Roland Garros warm-up events.

Maria Sharapova attended the Met Gala in 2019 as well, accompanied by boyfriend Alexander Gilkes.

The Russian was invited to the gala in 2016 as well, when she came dressed in red.

Caroline Wozniacki is another tennis star that's graced the event. She went in 2016, also in red:

The Swiss' style choices that day was talked about for seasons to come. While the Met Gala could still happen at a later date in 2020, there will always be more years of tennis and fashion to look forward to.
