Racquet Preview: Head Gravity 2025
The brand’s control and comfort franchise gets updated for greater stability and overhauls two members of the lineup.
Head positions the Gravity as the next-gen Prestige. It brings a similar level of precision to the court, but what sets it apart is the frame’s unique head shape. It’s wider shoulders elevates and broadens the sweet spot in the upper portion of the hoop to better suit modern stroke mechanics. It adds a little extra pop and forgiveness to frames that are otherwise still built for control.
This latest generation adds a few wrinkles to enhance the frame’s performance. Like all Head’s recent releases, it has Auxetic 2.0 construction. The first generation found the carbon fiber composition positioned in the yoke. It remains in that section of the frame, and now additionally occupies space in the handle. This is designed to give the frame a plusher, more solid feel at contact.

A new half cap bumper and grommet construction also adds durability to the top of the hoop, a little extra stability, and a unique sound at impact. Along with other tweaks to the layup, the changes are intended to enhance the frame’s already attractive levels of comfort and control. The striking ice space blue colorway and glossy finish is a nice bonus.
But what has Head really excited about this launch are the two new look members of the line. Although the Tour isn’t technically a new model—it existed in prior generations—it has been largely revamped. It now has a smaller, 98 square-inch head size, which had previously been missing from the line, and a very spin-friendly 16x19 string pattern. Head believes it compares with the likes of the Wilson Blade 98 (16x19) and the Yonex Percept 97.
The Gravity MP L, however, has not been available in North America before. At 9.9 oz./280g, it’s lighter and more manageable than the MP. Head sees it as an opportunity to grow the franchise, as this weight class is becoming an increasingly popular sector of the market.
Young players looking for a first adult-size racquet can build their games with the MP L before transitioning to the more demanding frames in the silo. Additionally, established players wanting a racquet that’s easy to swing but still controllable and comfortable can also find a home with this model.
The new Head Gravity 2025 is set to launch at retailers on January 16.
