Opelka won a lot of tiebreakers at the Atlanta Open including a third-set one to oust John Isner for the third time this year. Though he lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Alex de Minaur, the American reaches his career-high ranking just as the U.S. hard-court swing picks up speed.

In Italy, Teichmann captured the Palermo title on Sunday over No. 1-seeded Kiki Bertens. The 22-year-old Swiss has now won two WTA titles in 2019, and has come a long way from her January ranking of No. 148. She didn't lose a set on her way to the Palermo title, and her win over Bertens is the first Top-10 victory of her career.

4

Katarzyna Kawa

+66 — Up to No. 128 from No. 194

In Latvia, Kawa reached the final of Jurmala as a qualifier, losing to Anastasija Sevastova in a three-set final. The 26-year-old Pole has played predominately on the ITF tour this year, and during her entire career, last winning a 25K in April. It marked her seventh career ITF title.

After a lengthy struggle with a back stress fracture, the Russian is creeping back in on his former Top-40 status. In Hamburg, he scored notable wins over Dominic Thiem (his first Top-5 victory ever) and Pablo Carrreno Busta before falling to Nikoloz Basilashvili. ****Until Hamburg, the 21-year-old hadn't won consecutive main-draw matches since Miami.
