Ranking Reaction: Iga Swiatek kicks off 40th consecutive week at No. 1

She’s the fourth woman in WTA rankings history to spend 40 or more weeks at No. 1 in their first stint at the top spot.

Iga Swiatek rose to No. 1 on the WTA rankings for the first time on April 4th, 2022, and today—January 2nd, 2023—the Polish trailblazer kicks off her 40th consecutive week at the top spot.

Since WTA rankings began in 1975, she’s just the fourth woman to spend 40 or more consecutive weeks at No. 1 in their first stint there.
