“I really want to win more Slams”: Naomi Osaka intends on making WTA return after pregnancy

The competitive juices are still flowing inside the four-time major winner.

Can you hear it? The big sigh of relief coming from tennis fans everywhere?

Four-time major winner Naomi Osaka plans to return to tennis following the birth of her first child.

“I definitely plan to come back,” Osaka reportedly said in an interview with WBS in Japan. “It’s kind of like a break a little bit, but also I feel very competitive still.

“I really want to win more Slams.”

Following the surprise pregnancy announcement in January, Osaka is looking forward to getting back on the court in 2024. Her most recent appearance came last September in Tokyo.

“These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to,” she said.

While the 2023 WTA season has been nothing short of top-tier tennis, Osaka’s return will surely shake up the draws.
