Czech world No. 38 Marketa Vondrousova continued her perfect march at Roland Garros. She took out No. 26-seeded Johanna Konta, 7-5, 7-6 (2). The 19-year-old hasn't lost a set or played on Philippe Chatrier yet, due to unusual semifinal scheduling on Friday.

"I'm not trying to think about it, but it's weird," she said. "I'm going to play first final and just the first match on center court tomorrow. Yeah, I mean, it's strange."

Rafael Nadal beating Roger Federer on clay wasn't really a surprise, but for it to happen in comfortable straight sets was. The world No. 2 moved into the final with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win on a windy and rainy day.

"My mindset still was it's windy, anything can happen," Federer said. "I didn't play poor two first sets in my opinion. I thought Rafa really had to come up with the goods to make the difference, and the difference was a passing shot here, a pickup there, and then he was doing great."

Nadal is 11-0 in Roland Garros finals, but he doesn't have an opponent yet. The semifinal between Dominic Thiem and Novak Djokovic was suspended due to rain, even though the sun was out when the announcement was made. Thiem leads 6-2, 3-6, 3-1, and if he does win, he'll be at a huge disadvantage come Sunday with one day less rest. Djokovic asked for the supervisor to discuss enforcing the extreme wind rule while down in the first set.

Teenage American Amanda Anisimova looked well on her way to the final. After a terrible start against Ashleigh Barty, she won the first set in a tiebreaker and led 3-0 in the second. Instead, Barty turned the match around to win, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3.

"It's amazing even though I'm obviously upset I lost, because I'm always upset if I lose, because it's disappointing," Anisimova said. "But at the end of the day, I did make it to the semifinals for the first time. So, I mean, it's a positive week for me."

Ticket Tricks

Roland Garros sold tickets separately on Friday for men's and women's semifinals, after relegating the women to the outside stadiums for an 11 a.m. start. The scheduling was done to avoid weather delays, which came anyway, but only disrupted one match. Ticket buyers for the second men's semifinal were refunded. But awkwardness and outrage still ensued, obviously.
