Serena keeps it simple in all-red Nike ensemble

Many of the top pros are wearing Nike's newest Challenge Court collection, which is inspired by Andre Agassi's 1990s rebel style. The likes of Victoria Azarenka, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov are lighting up the court in the colorful collection, while Serena Williams is keeping it simple.

When Serena took the court for her first-round match in Arthur Ashe Stadium, she was a lady in red. From her red puff hair ties to her wristbands, the 23-time Grand Slam champion resembled a glass of red wine.

This isn't the first time she's donned a simple yet classy all-red ensemble. Twelve years ago, Serena wore a similar outfit at the US Open, It also should be noted, when she wore the all-red look she captured the title by defeating Jelena Jankovic, 6-4, 7-5, in the final and would regain the world No. 1 ranking.

Could Serena be channeling her 2008 victorious-self by putting on a similar outfit in 2020?

For her second round, Serena wore the same Nike dress, but this time, in a soft sand color. With two solid performances in the bag, she seems to be picking up momentum as she heads into her third round, where she's set to face 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens.

In her second-round match against Margarita Gasparyan, Serena was visibly frustrated at times and not completely satisfied with her service games. With six US Open titles, the 38-year-old is still critical on herself and would define the word, "perfectionist."

"Yeah, I'm a perfectionist," Serena told press."And I remember some of my earliest memories were going, practicing...I must have been, like, two or three or four, maybe four, and I was going to school and doing, like, the alphabet and it wasn't perfect. I stayed up and kept erasing it until I got it perfect.

"It's, like, Okay, Serena, stop. Only Jesus was perfect, so just stop."

Serena's three-year-old daughter Olympia apparently is following in her footsteps. Baby Olympia was seen walking the Flushing Meadows grounds wearing the same hair ties as her mother. Olympia not only shadows her Serena's style but a similar perfectionist mentality.

"It's so, so crazy because my daughter does the exact same thing. I'm, like, Oh, my goodness," Serena said.

She is set to take on No. 28 seed Stephens on Saturday. Serena currently holds a 5-1 winning record against her countrywoman.
